Clive Norman is an acclaimed and award-winning cinematographer. For over two decades he includes feature films, commercials, corporate films, promotional films, animation and television idents in his prolific portfolio, working in collaboration with professionals across advertising, creative, broadcast, corporate, digitial and cinema platforms.
Most recently as cinematographer on the critically acclaimed British feature film “Starfish", directed by Bill Clark, starring Golden Globe winner Joanne Froggatt, and two dramas "The Rebel" starring Simon Callow and "Henry The 9th" both directed by Vadim Jean.
Clive is committed to helping charities, most recently working with acclaimed commercials director Steve Cope on an award winning commercial for The National Autistic Society and a quit smoking campaign for the Health Service Executive, shot in Ireland.
Clients include Ogilvy & Mather, RKCR, CVVP, Y&R, Red Bee Media, London & Partners, South Africa Tourism, Roche, Castrol Oil, Renault, Nokia, O2, Honda and Mercedes. Clive also works with production companies, Rattling stick, 2AM, CVVP Kin, Flare AMV BBDO, The Mob Film Co, The Edge Picture company and creative agency SB3 digital. Clive has worked all over the world with both large crews and service companies filming in India, China, Africa and Latin America.
Clive has won more than 50 international awards including D&AD, BTAA, Royal Television Awards, Golden Circle, Golden Arrow, New York Festival Awards and Promax's. Clive has been voted No.1 Director of Photography on 'David Reviews' website on two consecutive years.
Clive learnt his craft and fine-tuned his skills in Soho London, working at an optical effects studio before becoming a full time DOP, giving him a great understanding of lighting and composting for visual effects and animation, developing a fine eye for detail and a highly versatile style. He shot the high profile BBC One idents, 'Moon Landing' and “Bicycles” broadcast for over ten years. He also shot the iconic "Honda Hands" commercial which accumulated over 17 million hits on YouTube. Recent work includes commercials for Sony, Saga, Coca Cola, Which and Mercedes.
Clive has worked extensively with directors who specialise in performance, documentary, animation, complex technical motion control & CGI. He loves the whole creative process and his easy going and collaborative nature enables directors, producers and clients to always get the best out of a project.
